Depart from Flores to Paso Caballos, the southeastern entrance of Laguna Del Tigre National Park. Paso Caballos is a Q’eqchi’ community located 75 kilometers northwest of Flores, with access via dirt road.

Boat ride to the Scarlet Macaw Biological Station via the San Pedro River.

Welcome to the biological station, check in and room assignment.

Boat ride to El Peru where you will begin a 2-hour walk to the monitoring station passing through the nesting area of the scarlet macaw. During the nesting season (January through June) it may be possible to see the scarlet macaw in flight.
4:00 p.m.
Light snack then bird watching and crocodile spotting at the Laguna El Peru.
6:45 p.m.

Day 2:
5:00 a.m.
Wake for breakfast.

One-half hour walk to the El Peru archaeological site for exploration of the ruins and Visit El Mirador de Los Monos for bird watching and to glimpse spider monkeys as they wend their way through the forest canopy.
Walk towards the Principal Plaza of the archaeological site where you will begin your exploration of the four plazas. During the months of January through May, archaeologists may be seen excavating the ruins.
Arrive at the beach at El Perú in time to return to the biological station for lunch, or a box lunch will be provided to those who care to continue their exploration of the El Perú forest and its bird life into the afternoon with a boat departure to the biological station in time to rest before dinner.

Swimming in the San Pedro River or visit the station´s overlook.
